PMS & PROBLEM PERIODS
Many women feel that they are at the mercy of their hormones every month. Women have a complex system of hormones, which cause a fluctuating environment, producing a monthly cycle. This creates a system that has the potential to cause distress, both emotionally and physically, if the hormones are not in balance.
For many the symptoms are mild but in extreme cases it is known to affect school and work function and family or social relationships. It can also be an indicator of your overall wellbeing. It is caused by an excess of oestrogen and a decrease of Progesterone. There are many things that promote these hormone imbalances, such as a high-sugar, refined carbohydrate diet, caffeine, stress, dairy, hormones in dairy products and meat, and oestrogen-like toxins from pesticides and pollution. Alcohol also contributes to problems because it damages the liver and prevents it from excreting excess oestrogen.
