Yesterday I saw a patient who I had been treating for the HPV virus.  Her latest test results showed that she no longer showed any signs of the virus. This was remarkable because this was the first time that she had had a negative result in over twenty years. She was over the moon and is another great example of the power of homeopathy.

What is the HPV virus

The HPV virus is a viral infection that commonly causes skin or mucous membrane growths (warts). There are more than 100 varieties of human papillomavirus (HPV).

Some types of human papillomavirus (HPV virus low risk) infection cause warts, and some (HPV virus high risk) can cause different types of cancer. An indication that you have the HPV virus are genital warts, which are similar to common warts but are usually found around or in the vagina, cervix (the lower part of the uterus), penis, scrotum, rectum, or the area between the vagina and rectum. They are soft, fleshy, small growths on the skin. It is the most common STD but most people do not know they have the virus until they are tested.

The HPV virus can cause six types of cancer: These include: anal, cervical, oropharyngeal, penile, vaginal and vulva. These cancers are more likely to develop if you have had the HPV virus for several years. Infection with the HPV virus does not cause symptoms. However, depending on the site of infection, the pre-cancers and cancers caused by a high-risk HPV infection that persists for many years (10-20) may cause symptoms such as lumps, bleeding, and pain.

Treatment for genital warts includes:

  • Cryotherapy: This involves using liquid nitrogen to freeze off warts.
  • Electrocautery: This involves using an electrical current to burn away the warts.
  • Laser or light therapy: This involves using a high-powered, targeted beam to remove the unwanted tissue.
  • Surgical removal: A surgeon can cut away warts in an outpatient procedure that involves a local aesthetic

Homeopathic treatment for the HPV virus

As homeopathy is an individualised form medicine, an indication of what remedy might be the best indicated remedy for a patient is the location of the warts. Are they located in the Vagina, the cervix or, for males, the penis or scrotum? Plus, are there any other characteristics, such burning or itching? After gathering this information, I would match these characteristics to certain remedies.  Other important information would be is the patient eating a lot of or craving certain foods, how is their sleep and how they are feeling mentally and emotionally. I’ve listed examples of some of the most indicated remedies below.

Homeopathic Remedies

Thuja  is one of the most common remedies for treating warts and one that I tend to use a lot. It might be indicated if the patient is prone to sadness and depression or often feels isolated or alone. They may feel ugly or unclean or even different from everyone. Warts may be present on the cervix, vagina, or labia. They may crave cold food or chocolate and be averse to onions and garlic.

Natrum sulph might be indicated if the patient has suffered mental troubles due to a head injury. They may be emotionally sensitive, closed, or sad. They have a strong craving for fatty food or a desire or aversion to yogurt. Warts are present on genitalia, vagina, or cervix

Nitric acid.  A person needing this remedy might be experiencing a weak memory. The patient can be discontented and pessimistic with a tendency to hold grudges. The warts can be large and cauliflower like and be found on the genitalia, cervix and uterus. They might have developed an aversion to meat but be craving cheese, fish or carbonated drinks. They may be sleepy in the day but awake after 2am.

Medorrhinum.  I tend to prescribe this remedy if I can see a lot of excess or over production. If I can identify this as a pattern then the  patient may need Medorrhinum. They may not just be presenting with warts but with polyps, cysts and other  growths. They may have heavy periods or chronic catarrhal conditions. Everything is increased and over produced. Mentally, they like to stay up late. They can do things to excess, such as drinking, drug taking or even exercise. They are often anxious and hurried.

Herbs

Echinacea angustifolia when combined with the homeopathic remedy Thuja has been shown to be effective in treating cytotoxicity.https://www.thieme-connect.com/products/ejournals/abstract/10.1055/s-0037-1608960?device=desktop&innerWidth=412&offsetWidth=412&lang=en

So as you can see, there are alternatives to medical  wart removal procedures. The homeopathic remedies, over time, reduce and remove the warts and prevent them from returning. Increasing the bodies natural immunity to help  prevent certain cancers.
